Through The Conjuring Universe, New Line is building a catalog of monsters to rival that of Universal’s golden age. There’s Annabelle, the Nun, the Crooked Man, and La Llorona, but New Line introduces us to several new forces of evil in Annabelle Comes Home, each rife with its own mythology worthy of spinoff movies in this ever-expanding franchise. Dauberman recently toldThe Hollywood Reporter that “we’re not looking at any of these as a launchpad for the next movie. James Wan has been instrumental and completely indispensable in the development of this shared universe, with his two ‘Conjuring’ films still standing tall as the singularly scariest and best entries in the franchise yet.
There is not only a potential for future movies to focus on these spirits but also a large opportunity to explore their individual histories and origins. Annabelle Comes Home would not be as effective without the added intricacy and creatures. The film mainly trades inThe Conjuring series' tried-and-tested jump scares, with long sequences of expected build-up leading to a jolt from the sudden appearance of the doll or a spirit. However, no official confirmations have been made until now, so it might be a while before we can get a hook on that news.

Pictures announced that a then-untitled film in the Conjuring Universe franchise would be released on July 3, 2019. Later that month, it was announced that the film would be another installment in theAnnabelleseries, with Dauberman signed on to write and direct the film in his directorial debut, based on a story treatment written by Dauberman and Wan. Principal photography commenced by mid-October and officially wrapped in December 2018 inLos Angeles.
After the doll's case is locked, the disturbances stop and the other spirits return to their slumber. The trio is also reunited with Bob, who has survived the hellhound's attacks. That's not to say Annabelle Comes Home wasn't intense because it certainly was, with its titular doll and ghostly manifestations that included a deadly samurai, a creepy ferryman, and a vicious werewolf.
Horror Villains Through the Years
Writer and director Gary Dauberman develops tension from the beginning and taps into the primal fear of being a child and having your home taken over by evil. Overall, The Conjuring universe movies may not be for everyone, but the films have grossed over $2 billion worldwide and continue to draw large audiences. Let’s look at why Annabelle Comes Home is a scary high point of all the Conjuring sequels. Sometime later, the Warrens welcome Mary Ellen, who will be in charge of babysitting their daughter, Judy, at the house while they travel overnight to investigate another case.
The most things it failed to do is to keep the viewers' engagement with the characters. Some of these characters is lacking strong qualities of dimention in their traits. It did not deliver the scare factor, and if it did, the execution is not strong enough. Imagine a war without any explosion, no damage dealt, and no one have gotten into a serious war shock after the climatic commotions – this is how I felt watching this movie. In this third Annabelle movie's case, the potential of its story is wasted because of continuous cheap scare-centric. In the movie, Judy is a brave, relatable protagonist who confronts the evil surrounding her home with strength and determination.

We learn more about her struggles as the Warren’s daughter, dealing with bullying and a lack of understanding from her peers. She finds friendship in Mary Ellen, her babysitter, and Mary Ellen’s friend Daniela. The three are the primary characters in the film and must deal with the repercussions of Daniela opening Annabelle’s case and unleashing the evil spirits. Though met with somewhat mixed reviews, Annabelle Comes Home stands out from other entries in the series.

Audience Reviews for Annabelle Comes Home
The James Wan-produced Annabelle Comes Home showed a gentler side when it was not freaking audiences out with the killer doll and other ghosts. Fun for fans even if it isn't as frightening as some of its predecessors, Annabelle Comes Home suggests there's still some life left in the Conjuring franchise. Grace’s performance gives the audience an emotional connection to her character, allowing them to bond with Judy as she faces her fears. There is a heavy focus on traditional themes of good vs. evil and religion as a form of protection, with Judy providing an example of how taking back control of a situation can be empowering. While the Annabelle Comes Home cast is filled with talent, McKenna Grace stands out as Judy Warren.

Dauberman later confirmed this, stating that the film would take place shortly after the beginning of The Conjuring where the titular character is introduced, but also before many of the events of the first installment.
Her performance is key to the film, and her ability to carry the story without veteran actors Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson is impressive. Judy and her babysitter are left alone in her house after her parents leave to investigate a case. However, an unexpected guest sets Annabelle free, unleashing demonic activity in the house. Million worldwide and received mixed reviews from critics, who found it less frightening than its predecessors. A visually nice movie, but boring and generic in terms of entertainment. I am rating "Annabelle Comes Home" a mere, but very generic and mediocre, of five out of ten stars.
However, for that to work, Annabelle would have to find her way out of the blessed glass box to wreak havoc upon a new, unassuming group of people. From what we have seen in the franchise until now, and given the fierce proclivity of the ‘Conjuring’verse people to get themselves in danger, this doesn’t seem entirely impossible. Furthermore, ‘Annabelle Comes Home’ quite explicitly reveals the demon using the doll as a conduit as The Ram, a malevolent entity that draws its appearance from the animal of the same name. Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren confiscate the Annabelle doll from nurses Debbie and Camilla, who claimed that the doll often performed violent activities in their apartment. During the drive back home, the doll summons spirits to attack Ed, but he narrowly survives. Annabelle is locked in a sacred glass case in the couple's artifacts room that is blessed by Father Gordon to ensure the evil is contained.
Though only a co-writer and producer, there is a heavy nod to James Wan’s signature style in Annabelle Comes Home. From the use of jump scares (which are well-timed and not overdone) to outstanding cinematography, the movie is filled with classic horror tropes and perfectly executed pacing. All The Conjuring movies are known for drawn-out scenes of suspense, dark atmospheres, and jump scares. Annabelle Comes Home takes this to the next level, capitalizing on slow-burn pacing and intense scenes.
